Matt is a former Minor County cricketer and current level 3 performance coach, now living in his home town Walsden.
Matt had an impressive playing career, playing four seasons in Australia, representing Yorkshire County Cricket Club from under 15 level through to Academy & 2nd XI and was Cheshire County Cricket Club’s wicket keeper batsman for seven successful seasons, gaining over 100 victims as wicket keeper and featured in two minor county championships and a one-day final at Lord’s Cricket Ground. Matt now plays at his home club Walsden CC, and is heavily involved in fundraising for the club and running the junior section at the club.
Matt is now Head Coach at The Cricket Asylum, this role involves delivering the elite end of the coaching with 1-2-1s, academy sessions and masterclasses. Matt also manages the coaching staff and all the coaching programs delivered by TCA. Having previously run his own sports coaching business and worked for the Cheshire Cricket Board, Matt has vast knowledge and experience of how the sports industry operates and uses his contacts from the cricketing world to the advantage of both TCA and now going forward for the Cricket Asylum Foundation.
